Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States - for men and women. In fact, more women than men die of heart disease every year. One explanation is that women don't come to the emergency rooms soon enough. Another is that they're not diagnosed accurately or treated as aggressively as men.

Fortunately, there's WomenHeart, the nation's only patient advocacy organization, representing 8,000,000 American women living with heart disease. WomenHeart's mission is to improve women's quality of life and quality of health care, to include early detection, accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.
