Cigna 90 Now

The Cigna 90 Now program makes it easy to get 90-day prescription refills for your maintenance medications.

Filling your maintenance medications just got easier.

Life is busy and you may not remember to pick up your refill each month. The Cigna 90 Now program can help make things easier by allowing you to get a 90-day supply of your medication through home delivery or select retail pharmacies—like CVS—so you're less likely to miss a dose.

Watch this short video to learn how to get the most from your pharmacy plan’s coverage.

Make life easier

by making fewer trips to the pharmacy for refills.

with a 90-day supply on hand, you’re less likely to miss a dose3.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are maintenance medications?

These are medications you take every day to treat an ongoing health condition like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or asthma. Maintenance medications are not used to treat a short-term condition like an infection or pain caused by surgery or a broken bone.

Can any medication be filled in a 90-day supply?

No. For example, medications that are used to treat a short-term condition, narcotic pain medications, and most specialty medications (which are used to treat complex medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hepatitis C, or rheumatoid arthritis) aren’t typically available in a 90-day supply.

What is the benefit to filling a 90-day supply?

You’ll make fewer trips to the pharmacy for refills. And you’re more likely to stay healthy because with a 90-day supply on-hand, you’re less likely to miss a dose.3

Will I save money by filling a 90-day supply?

It depends on your plan. Log in to myCigna or check your plan documents to learn more about how your plan covers 90-day fills.

Do I need my doctor’s approval to switch to a 90-day prescription?

Yes, you’ll need a new prescription for a 90-day supply.

Can I fill my 90-day prescription at any pharmacy in my plan’s network?

No. Not all pharmacies in your plan’s network are approved to fill 90-day prescriptions. For example, you can use CVS to fill a 90-day supply, but you can only fill a 30-day supply at Walgreens.

Can I use the same pharmacy to fill both my 30-day prescriptions and my 90-day supply?

Yes, and you can log in to myCigna to find pharmacies that can fill both 30-day and 90-day prescriptions.

My pharmacy isn’t approved to fill 90-day supplies. How do I switch pharmacies?

There are three easy ways you can move your 90-day prescription:

  • Call your doctor's office. Ask them to send your prescription for a 90-day (or 3-month) supply electronically to your new pharmacy.
  • If your prescription still has a refill available, ask your new pharmacy to contact your current pharmacy to help transfer your prescription.
  • If you'd like to use home delivery to fill your medication, call . Someone from Express Scripts® Pharmacy, Cigna's home delivery pharmacy, will contact your provider to get a 90-day prescription with refills. Be sure to have your Cigna ID card, provider's contact information, and medication name(s) when you call.

If you don’t already have a prescription for 90-day supply, call your provider and ask them to send one electronically to your new pharmacy.

Can I choose to fill my maintenance medication in a 30-day supply instead of a 90-day supply?

Your plan may require you to fill maintenance medications in a 90-day supply to be covered. Log in to the myCigna or check your plan documents to learn more about how your plan covers maintenance medications.

1 Some medications aren't available in a 90-day supply and may only be packaged in lesser amounts. For example, 3 packages of oral contraceptives equal an 84-day supply. Even though it's not a “90-day supply,” it's still considered a 90-day prescription.

2 Not all plans offer home delivery as a covered pharmacy option. Please log in to the myCigna® app or website, or check your plan materials, to learn more about the pharmacies in your plan's network.

3 Internal Cigna analysis performed Jan. 2019, utilizing 2018 Cigna national book of business average medication adherence (customer adherent > 80% PDC), 90-day supply vs. those who received a 30-day supply taking antidiabetics, RAS antagonist, and statins.

4 Standard shipping costs are included as part of your prescription plan.

5 App/online store terms and mobile phone carrier/data charges apply.

Health benefit plans vary, but in general to be eligible for coverage a drug must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), prescribed by a health care professional, purchased from a licensed pharmacy and medically necessary. If your plan provides coverage for certain prescription drugs with no cost-share, you may be required to use an in-network pharmacy to fill the prescription. If you use a pharmacy that does not participate in your plan's network, your prescription may not be covered, or reimbursement may be limited by your plan's copayment, coinsurance or deductible requirements. Refer to your plan documents for costs and complete details of your plan's prescription drug coverage.
